Telling the full story…
Since 1944, the Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation has restored, maintained, and shared with the public Patrick Henry’s last home and burial site and the legacy of enslaved African Americans. Today, Red Hill preserves the stories of both Henry and the enslaved and freed people who lived and worked here for over 150 years.
After acquiring Red Hill from Lucy Gray Henry Harrison, the final Henry descendant to live on the estate, nearly 1,000 acres of pastoral landscape and 3,000 historical artifacts have been preserved forever.
